Revival of the Tweed

Tweed has always been a recuring textile on the runway, especially with brands like Chanel that always seem to keep the classic fabric alive. But... surprisingly enough tweed has been spotted over and over again on the runway recently and not only that, it has had a complete makeover.
Heres why I think that we'll be seeing a whole load of tweed going on in the upcoming months, its seems to me that there is a new trend being hatched: tweed jackets paired with jeans. It's the ultimate casual yet chic fit. And as a girl who practically lives in jeans, i am totally here for it.
This new trend is definitely changing things though, I dont know about you, but for a while whenever i thought about tweed I thought about something more Mother of the Bride.
A very chic and fashionable MOB of course, but a MOB nonetheless. Now, with this rise of slightly more casual vibes, tweed has become a cool girl staple.
I think what really confirmed it for me was the teaser/ad for Chanel's Métiers d'art collection that came out late last year. Margaret Qualley in that red and blue tweed jacket awoke something in me!

And lets not forget the most recent spring summer collections that also showed us quite a bit of cool girl tweed.
I spotted a cropped and structured tweed blazer on the Dior runway, that was absolutely to die for. The same blazer that Harry Styles so effortlessly wore to the grammys, of course paired with a pair of jeans. Then again, I think Jonathan Anderson can make just about anything cool, and speaking of, JW Anderson has an insanely cool pair of tweed loafers!
Chanel is obviously the expected runway to see tweed on, but Matthieu Blazy nearly brought a tear to my eye bringing unexpected oversized and definetly inherently modern aspects to something so incredibly expected and classic. I think we will keep seeing tweed become more normalized, especially in more casual outfits.
It is safe to say that tweed is here, it's alive and it's definetly super cool.
